SUMMARY:Night Trains 2023 - 2024 Season
DESCRIPTION:Night Trains® season is a special Holidays tradition at the Twin City Model Railroad Museum. Night Trains runs October 2023 through February 2024 with additional bonus nights noted below. \nWhat is Night Trains? The museum’s collection of model trains of all scales and toy trains of yesteryear come alive throughout the Museum (Sorry\, no real trains to board and ride on!). Night Trains Season magic begins as the lights are turned down and the buildings and street lights glow warmly\, setting the scene for specially lighted models of operating vintage passenger trains. The make believe town of Matlin is buried in a blizzard\, and throughout the Museum the layouts are adorned with miniature Christmas lights and decorations. \nHours and Admission\nEvery Saturday (Except Christmas Eve) from October 21st\, 2022 to February 24\, 2023. The event runs from 3:00pm to 7pm\, tickets will be sold for 2 hour time blocks. $15 per guest\, kids under the age of 4 are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at: tcmrm.eventbrite.com but advance purchase is not required. \n\nNotice: Tickets are always fully refundable if you are unable to attend.\n\n2023 – 2024 Special Evenings\n*Special appearances may change without notice. Please watch our Facebook page for the latest info. \nHalloween Night Trains – October 21st and 28th – See spooky trains and Halloween decorations on the layouts! Costumes are welcome! Treats will be handed out. (Spooky Trains admission is only $10 per person) \nNovember – We are slowly switching from Halloween trains to winter decorations and then to Christmas decorations. \nBlack Friday Night Trains – Friday\, November 24th – make the museum part of your Thanksgiving weekend plans! \nDecember – Stay tuned for more information on our Santa events on December 9th and 16th! \nChristmas Week Bonus Nights ::Dates TBD:: – looking to entertain guests from out of town or need a break from shopping? SUMMARY:The Circus Train
DESCRIPTION:The Model Circus Trains Are Back!  \nEvery Saturday this September!\n10 AM – 5PM \nSee our popular O-Scale train (over 60’ long) will consist of animal cars\, passenger\ncars\, and special circus flat cars\, each loaded with hand-made special circus\nwagons plus a Parade thru “Hamline” and wagon unloading show on the “big”\nlayout. \nAdditional layouts will each feature Circus trains and / or displays in their own scale.\nThis  event is inspired by Circus World Museum in Baraboo Wisconsin. \nNext Circus event April 2023! \nCo-sponsors: Ring 80 of Circus Model Builders. \nWhat are Circus Trains? \nCircus trains began in the 1870s\, by replacing the shows that moved by slow animal-drawn wagons.  Over the years these trains grew in length as the train cars switched from wood to steel construction.  Circus trains typically consisted of three types of cars: large animal cars\, flat cars loaded with colorful wagons and passenger cars for the workers and performers.  They were usually found in the train in that order.  Circus cars were generally longer than normal freight cars because the railroads charged by the car & mile.  They were painted very colorful to attract attention.  The greatest number of circus trains operated between 1920 and 1950.  Over those years many merged and others went broke. \nOur O-Scale train was inspired by the “Circus World Museum” in Baraboo\, Wisconsin. The museum has a very large collection of train cars\, wagons\, events\, and other circus collections for you to see.  Our train features models of many of these wagons faithfully modeled in O-Scale.  O-Scale works out to 1 to 48 and ¼” equals 1 foot. \nOur Circus Train reenacts this operation on our large O-scale layout with an operating Circus Train\, several displays and a Parade staged in one of our towns. \nAdmission \nAdmission to this special event is included in the Museum’s regular admission price of $10 per person\, Children 4 and under are admitted free of charge.
