This O-27-gauge layout shows a typical Marx train layout of the late 1950s. Hobbyist Loren Martin built the layout in the early 1980s and operated it at local train shows until 1993.
In 2009, Loren donated it to the museum, and Al Osterud began the process of restoring and redesigning the layout.
All of these trains are original and more than 50 years old. Nearly all of the track, accessories, and power supplies were made, designed, or tooled by Louis Marx & Company between 1929 and 1974. Some of the pieces are post-1975 re-castings or reproductions created by the New Marx Trains/Ameritrains company.
